A lock-bar is a steel cover that bolts over the container door's cam handles, protecting them from cutting and prying. Combined with a hidden-shackle padlock, it makes the container effectively burglar-proof. Cost: $80-$300 installed.
The container's vulnerability is the cam-handle locking system, not the door itself. Without a lock-bar, a thief can pry or cut the handle — the padlock becomes irrelevant.
Steel plate that covers the right-door cam handles. Includes a hasp for padlock attachment. $80-$150. Most common upgrade.
Surrounds the right-door cam handles on three sides. Even more protection against pry-bars. $150-$300.
Bolt-on installs with security bolts (one-way heads). Weld-on is more secure but permanent. Bolt-on is typical for storage; weld-on for jobsite-grade.
A lockbox covers both the cam handle AND the padlock itself — full enclosure. Top-tier security. $200-$400 installed.
For very-high-security containers (banking storage, ammunition): multi-point locking with multiple internal locks on a single bar. $500+.
